Self Care On A Budget
I've always wondered why self-care has always been attributed to spending so much cash. To be honest, before I became a self-care junkie, I though only the rich could afford the luxury of indulging in self-care. Boy!!!! Was I wrong.
As I was unravelling the mystery of self-care, I noticed it doesn’t really matter how much you invest in it. It's all about doing it right and getting the right results. After all, you could spend a ton of money on self-care and be on the wrong path.
How then do we do self-care on a budget? Here's my two cents on how to get the best self-care regimen going without breaking the bank.
Clean! Clean!! Clean!!!
Cluttered environment increases stress levels, it has a direct effect on our mood and health. This makes day-to-day living a little harder than it really needs to be.
It is no rocket science that people dealing with clutter usually get depressed and lack self-motivation.
Although physical decluttering comes to mind when thinking about cleaning, you can also try mental decluttering to keep your mind body and soul free of things that could get you easily depressed and weigh you down.
Treat yourself
Cleaning takes out the old, treating yourself brings in the new. Although you are on a budget, you don’t have to treat yourself to something very expensive. A new book, a new playlist, buy yourself flowers (my personal favorite) or a new scented candle can make your day.
You can also try couponing to get almost free items like spa days and other things that would make you happy. Think Living Social, Groupon, Hautelook or Gilt.
Relax! Rest!!
There is no better self-care than being relaxed and well rested. Self-care actually, begins from a well relaxed rested mind. The best thing about resting is that it is absolutely free.
Try cutting out all stressful aspects of stress from your life. Learn to live in the moment, be a happier person. Run yourself a warm bath, watch TV, take short naps and you are on your way to being a well self-cared person.
Get a hobby
Be creative and you are on your way to being a healthier and happy person. This is a fun way of initiating self-care into your day.
Learn something fun like writing, or you can start a journal it’s a great way to keep track of your thoughts or reading, singing and so on. These are critical to our well-being. They also give us a sense of achievement.
Exercise
Exercising is another favorite of mine, its one of the cheapest means of self-care. You don’t have to pay a dime to be fit. You can run, take a walk, do some cardio, or dance. These are things you can indulge in without breaking the bank.
Self-care isn’t about how much you have to spend on yourself. It's all about how you teat yourself and what you achieve within your resources.
Do you treat yourself? What's your favorite thing to do?
